We started a company to keep one promise.
Focal Sites builds websites for businesses of every kind — brand new and long-established, first site or fifth. The whole company is organized around a single, unglamorous idea: say what you'll deliver, say when, and then do it.
What makes a date reliable

Why we exist
We built the company around one structural decision: make the date reliable, not hopeful.
A delivery date only holds if three things are true: the scope is written down and agreed before the date is set, one person is accountable for that specific date, and the contract puts a real cost on missing it. Skip any one of them and what's left is an estimate wearing a date's clothes.
So we made all three standard practice. Scope gets written down and signed off at the end of a discovery phase, before any date is quoted. One date goes in the contract, not a range. And if we miss it, the contract already says what that costs us — decided in advance, not negotiated after the fact.
A promise you can't be held to isn't worth making.
What we believe
A few things we hold to.

The date is a commitment, not an estimate.
We agree it once, at the end of discovery, when we actually know what we're building. Then we hold it.

We'd rather turn work down than overpromise.
"If we take it, it gets done" only means something if we sometimes don't take it. Selectivity is how the promise stays true.

The work should prove itself.
Every site we ship is fast, accessible, and technically sound — measurably, not as a claim. This one included. You can test it yourself.

Plain over impressive.
We'd rather tell you something true and useful than something that sounds clever. That goes for our code and our conversations.

Remote by default, in person when it helps.
Most of our work happens online, which keeps us fast and keeps your costs down. When a project calls for it and geography allows, we'll meet face to face.

Launch is a milestone, not a finish line.
We stay engaged after a site goes live. Security updates, monitoring, and support for the changes you ask for are part of how we work, included from the start — the site shipped is part of the job, not the end of it.
Where we're going
Websites are where we start.
We're building toward more — custom software, cloud infrastructure, security, the harder problems businesses grow into. This is deliberate: the same standards we hold on websites are the foundation we're laying for everything that comes next. Expect it from us. We'll announce each one here the day we can deliver it to the standard our name is on — because the point of Focal Sites is that when we say we do something, we do it.
